Institute for Maritime Technology is situated on Martello Road Simon's Town 

For 50 years, the Institute for Maritime Technology (IMT), a subsidiary of Armscor, has been South Africa’s trusted centre for maritime science, engineering and technology. Established in 1975 and proudly ISO 9001 accredited, IMT provides advanced solutions that strengthen national security while serving both defence and commercial clients.

Located in Simon’s Town, Western Cape, IMT combines state-of-the-art laboratories, workshops and testing platforms with highly skilled professionals who are leaders in their fields. From boats, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), to sophisticated sensors and IT systems, IMT has grown into a facility that not only supports naval operations but also delivers innovations that impact global maritime and security environments.
